Notice of the State Council Food Safety Office on Strengthening Food Safety During the New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, and the National "Two Sessions" Period
On December 15, 2025, the State Council Food Safety Office issued a notice on strengthening food safety during the New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, and the National "Two Sessions" period. The notice requires enhanced rapid testing for prohibited and restricted drugs, as well as commonly overused drug residues in edible agricultural products before they reach the market. Key areas of focus include bulk foods, seasonal foods, infant formula, and health foods such as rice, flour, oil, meat, eggs, dairy, fruits, vegetables, and tea. Priority will be given to major venues such as large shopping malls, supermarkets, wholesale markets, and chain enterprises, as well as key regions like rural areas and urban-rural junctions. Both online and offline supervision and inspection of food producers and sellers will be intensified to crack down on illegal activities such as counterfeit and substandard products, adulteration, and false advertising.
